Capabilities
What we make
Prom Dress manufacturing capabilities
Prom is a seasonal, size-led business. The dress has to fit a sixteen-year-old and her buyer's idea of the same style, survive a dance floor, and arrive before a date that cannot move. Those three constraints decide almost every production choice on this page.
- Corset and boned bodice gowns
- Tulle ball gowns with layered skirts
- Satin and mikado A-line styles
- Sequin, glitter-knit and metallic fabrics
- Mermaid and trumpet silhouettes
- Two-piece and convertible prom styles
Constructions
What we build in this category
Each of these is developed as its own programme: its own block, its own interlining and its own sample round.
Grading a prom range is the hard part
Prom selling runs from junior through plus. The bust and waist grade has to be re-checked on the corset block rather than carried over from a straight-size pattern, or the top edge gaps on the larger sizes.
The wear case sets the finish
A prom dress is worn once, danced in and photographed a hundred times. That argues for a boned bodice, a secure closure and a hem that survives being stepped on — not for the cheapest finishing on the quote.
Tulle layers are a cost and a shape
Layer count changes both the silhouette and the metre yield. The number of layers is set against the shape you want and confirmed on the first sample.
Inside the work
How these garments get made here
Pattern, sample, construction and material — the four stages that decide whether the finished garment matches the one you approved.

Development process
From reference to bulk in five steps
- 1
Season and size curve
We start from the prom date and the size curve, because both set the sampling window before anything is cut.
- 2
Shell, tulle and interlining
Shell, tulle layers, coring and interlining are sourced and quoted together, since layer count drives both shape and cost.
- 3
Corset block and first sample
The bodice is built from a corset block and corrected on a body. Grading is checked on the boned block, not on a straight pattern.
- 4
Approval and full size run
The approved sample becomes the reference for the whole run, across every size in the curve.
- 5
Production and pre-date inspection
Production and inspection are scheduled backwards from the delivery date, with final inspection before cartons close.

Typical questions we ask
- What is the size curve — does every style carry the same run?
- Which date does the range have to land by? Prom dates are fixed, so the calendar sets the sampling window.
- Are colourways shared across styles, so dye lots can be combined?
