Skirts are simple garments with two failure points: the waistband, which either holds or does not, and the hem, which either hangs level or spirals. Both are solved in the pattern and the cutting, and both are visible to a customer within thirty seconds of trying the garment on.

These are the choices that decide whether the garment works in wear — and they are all made before cutting, not during finishing.
Bias garments need a resting period
A bias-cut skirt grows after cutting. We let bias panels rest before the hem is levelled, otherwise a skirt that measures correct on the table hangs unevenly on the body.
Waistband construction sets the fit
Interfacing weight, band depth and the closure position are matched to the shell so the band does not roll or gape over the course of a day.
Pleat setting has to be repeatable
On a pleated style the pleats are set and fixed so the hundredth piece falls identically to the first — this is what makes a repeat order match.
