Manufacturing for Amazon and marketplace sellers

Marketplace economics punish two things: a size chart that does not match the garment, and a defect rate that generates returns. Both are manufacturing problems, and both are fixable at development.

The commercial reality

What actually constrains you

Marketplace selling has an unusual cost structure: the platform fee and fulfilment cost are fixed per order, so returns consume margin disproportionately. A dress returned for a fit complaint costs the original shipping, the return shipping, the restocking, and the advertising spent to acquire the customer.

That makes size accuracy the highest-value engineering problem in a marketplace catalogue. A size chart that describes the garment as measured — rather than the size the garment is labelled — removes most of the fit-related returns.

The second problem is variation management. A marketplace listing with many colour and size variations is only as strong as its weakest variation: one colour that photographs differently, or one size that fits badly, damages the whole listing.

What we do differently

How we work with amazon sellers

We grade for consistency across the size run

Extended sizes are graded from a fit-approved sample so the waistline position and hem balance hold across the range rather than drifting at the extremes.

Measurement sheets are accurate and usable

Garment measurements taken flat, in the form a marketplace size chart needs, so the listing describes what actually arrives.

Colour consistency across a variation family

Colourways are cut from matched lots and photographed consistently, so no single variation weakens the listing.

Marketplace-ready labelling and packing

Care labelling for the destination market and packing suited to a fulfilment network.

Typical programme

What an engagement looks like

  • Development of a size-consistent variation family
  • Small first runs per colourway, repeated on the winners
  • Accurate measurement sheets for listing size charts
  • Marketplace-ready labelling and packing

Services most often used

  • ODM Development — Start from a reference, a trend or a gap in your range.
  • Private Label — Our construction, your brand.
  • Quality Control — Checks at cutting, sewing and finishing — because a defect found at the end of a run has already been repeated across the whole run.
  • Packaging — Folding, hanging, labelling and carton packing — the stage that decides whether goods arrive saleable or arrive needing work.

What to have ready

You do not need all of this to start a conversation. Having it ready shortens the first quotation considerably.

  • The categories you are listing into and your target price point
  • Your best-performing size and colour, if you have history
  • Any existing listings whose return reasons you want designed out
  • Destination marketplace, so labelling matches its requirements
  • Your packaging and fulfilment arrangement

Avoid these

Three things that cost amazon sellers money

Listing a size chart copied from another seller

If the chart does not describe your garment, the returns come back to you. Measure the garment you actually sell.

Treating all variations as equivalent

One weak colourway or one badly graded size drags the whole listing's performance down.

Choosing a fabric without checking how it photographs

A fabric that looks flat on camera underperforms regardless of how it feels in hand. This is a development decision, not a photography one.
