US premium brand Tommy Hilfiger has become the newest partner of Spinnova_ a Finnish fibre tech firm backed by Fashion for Good.

The company has joined Spinnova_s consortium_ a model the firm introduced earlier this year to encourage fashion brands to back efforts in scaling its flagship fibre offering.

Aptly dubbed Spinnova_ the textile is made of wood pulp or waste that forms a biodegradable_ recyclable fibre through a chemical-free process.

By partnering with the producer_ Tommy Hilfiger gains access to the fibre_ and will therefore expand the application of the material across its different product categories_ a press release stated.

In a statement_ Spinnova_s senior commercial manager_ Pedro Brito_ said: “We are pleased to welcome Tommy Hilfiger to the Spinnova consortium.

“Their commitment to exploring materials pilots for sustainability aligns seamlessly with our mission to scale the availability of textile materials made with Spinnova fibre.”
