GU_ the sister brand to Uniqlo and part of the Fast Retailing Group_ has unveiled its first-ever collaboration with New York-based fashion label Engineered Garments.

The five-piece_ limited-edition collection launches on December 5_ both online and at the GU SoHo store in New York City_ featuring GU essential items_ including outerwear and separates_ reinterpreted with Engineered Garments_ distinctive aesthetic_ such as deep navy tones symbolic of the brand.

Commenting on the collaboration_ Daiki Suzuki_ founder of Engineered Garments_ said in a statement: “Designed around the theme of _Manhattanism__ this collection reimagines classic American items from the perspective of Engineered Garments_ and offers them at GU_s reliable product quality and price.

“Although the two brands have different customer bases_ their shared commitment to quality production_ and trust between teams_ has produced high-quality items. I look forward to seeing this collection reach more customers.”

The five-piece collection draws inspiration from the vibrant spirit and character of 1970s New York. Highlights include outerwear made from padded_ windproof_ and water-repellent fabrics_ styled with an adjustable hem and a functional hunting pocket_ and a fleece jacket designed to resemble a pullover with a concealed front opening.

There is also a heavyweight heathered sweatshirt with a soft_ vintage feel_ emblazoned with _Manhattanism__ a shawl-collar cable-knit cardigan with elbow-patch–style accents_ and heavyweight sweat pants. Most pieces are available in navy_ olive and grey.

Prices for the GU x Engineered Garments collection range from 39.90 to 99.90 US dollars.

GU was established in 2006 and operates approximately 480 stores in Asia_ with e-commerce sites in Taiwan_ Hong Kong and Japan_ and opened its US flagship in New York City in 2024_ marking its first outside of Asia. The brand focuses on value and trend-forward styles_ providing “high-value fashion with a touch of Tokyo_” and has previously collaborated with luxury brand Rokh.
